Create an iPad app using Adobe InDesign
Pageplane Graphic Tech - Chuck Green
If you're in need of a quick solution for creating an iPad compatible publication/app, I've seen a demo of a product that might interest you. Twixl Publisher is a plug-in (and service) of Twixl Media. It allows you to create a publication/app which can include features such as links, audio, video, slide shows — even a storefront.
Simply put, you create the document in InDesign and then save it using Twixl Publisher. How it works from there depends on the license you purchase. For example, you can purchase a standard license for $1400 and pay $350 for the final build of each app you create and you can purchase an advance license for $7100 and publish as many apps as you want without an additional charge.
I haven't used Twixl Publisher but, having seen some of the other solutions, it looks like a reasonable price. In essence, first time out, you're publishing an app for under $2000.

Evaluation Twixl Publisher
DZone - Peter Villevoye
Well, I can't keep myself from SHOUTING that your software is an absolutely very pleasant experience !
The installation runs smooth, of course, I don't read the manual (not at first ;-) so I just started and gazed at that funny file panel as if it was something belonging to a Twixl plug-in. But I could only find that (very elegant) Twixl menu and accompanying panel, neatly in the Extension menu. Until I noticed it: this funny panel is a Book file ! Finally, a developer is actually using it right :-) What other place to build a whole cluster of files than where I've been doing it myself all the time, especially while using Adobe's DPS. This is great !
And then, the interactivity panels. These also prove that you take care of both functionality and elegance. I wish for some more features, but it's a good start. And it all works in a very obvious way, even features like the Preflight, Export, build, and test - smooth.
Did you ever see Aquafadas (or the Quark) App stuff ? I tell you, I'm glad I didn't buy Quark yesterday... The software works just like their website: horrible. Even their (on-line) documentation is not up to date, showing dead links and offering confusingly old help. You can sense in every aspect of their products and communication that they are too technically inclined and not paying attention to the experience I get as a visitor of their website or user of their software.
You DO. In every word, pixel and button.
Hope to see a lot more good stuff coming from Twixl!
